CINGUETTIO

Quando il freddo
e le lunghe notti d’inverno
hanno intristito anche il pensiero,
inaspettato un argenteo cinguettio
ha bussato alla porta dell’alba
e all’aprire del giorno
note di letizia
-come fiori sul terreno ghiacciato-
hanno indorato il cielo
in un’esplosione di gioia!

have also saddened thought,
unexpected is a silvery twittering
knocking at the door of dawn
and to the opening of the day
notes of gladness
-like flowers on the icy ground-
have gilded the sky
in an explosion of joy!
